FIDIC 2009 Conference, London. Managing Director's Message
By now you will be well aware of the programme for the FIDIC annual conference in London from 13-16 September 2009. The FIDIC website http://www1.fidic.org/conference/2009/ has been active for some time. This provides the most up to date information on the events and activities associated with the conference.
You can also register online. The list of participants is also available online, to facilitate contacts and to arrange meetings.
In these challenging times, it is even more critical that our members are fully aware of the key issues confronting our industry, and what they as firms can do to meet these challenges. Equally important are the tasks and services to be provided by associations, and federations. This will be addressed in the FIDIC DNS meeting on 12th September and the FIDIC Member Association Presidents meeting on 13th September, but also throughout the conference as well.
Not only will we be addressing the financial crisis, but also key issues such as climate change, urbanisation, energy efficiency, and water resources, amongst others. The world, as never before, is crying out for leadership and professional advice. This industry is well placed to offer that leadership. It is very important therefore that you attend to find out How.
London is on your doorstep, and the Euro offers a very attractive option for attendance this year. Please note the Early Bird rate ends on 15th July. In addition, with the conference not expected back in Europe until 2013, it is your opportunity to participate in large numbers to show the rest of the world what Europe has to offer, and to explore new opportunities within Europe as well as outside Europe.
I invite you to encourage all your member firms to attend this, the most important event in the consulting engineering calendar. They will meet colleagues from all across the globe and can learn about the latest developments and techniques that will assist them to understand better the issues confronting our industry. They will learn how to improve the quality of their services to clients, and to society, and of course, to improve their profitability.
I look forward to seeing you all in London.
With best regards
Enrico Vink
FIDIC Managing Director
